According to scientists at Princeton University, 91 million people would lose their lives or be seriously injured in a nuclear conflict between NATO forces and Russia.

Specialists from the US institution have created an animation to show what could be a potential conflict of tactical nuclear weapons between the two territories. They envisioned a possible order of battle and relied on both independent badessments of both countries and data on their currently deployed nuclear weapons.

According to his investigations, in order to limit the advance of NATO, Russia would launch a nuclear warning shot from a base near the city of Kaliningrad against Central Europe. Then, the alliance would launch a missile against the Russian base. Then the fight would intensify at the level of tactical nuclear warfare.

After the destruction of Europe, the United States would launch a strategic attack from its land and submarines using 600 nuclear warheads against Russian nuclear forces. Before losing its weapons systems, Moscow would use missiles against US territory. In total, 3.4 million people could lose their lives during 45 minutes of attacks.

Next, NATO and Russia would each attack the 30 most populous cities and economic centers by using between 5 and 10 nuclear warheads and taking into account the size of these places. According to the model, 85.3 million people will be victims of these attacks. It is estimated that 34.1 million people could die and 57.4 would be injured.

Deaths could increase significantly in the long term due to the effects of nuclear explosions.

New York, Indianapolis, Washington, San Diego and Austin would be the first 5 cities that Russia would attack in US territory. For their part, the United States would attack: St. Petersburg, Izhevsk, Krasnodar, Toliatti and Krasnoyarsk.
