The specimen is a “Cornufer guppyi” frog endemic to the Solomon Islands and known as one of the largest in the world. Unfortunately, its population has recently declined due to logging and the expansion of colonies in its habitat.
The owner of the place later revealed that his workers ate it, as the meat is highly prized in the area.
“I told my guys, next time if they catch any, we’ll keep them,” he said. ABC.
