"The main objective was the entry and permanent presence of illegal immigrants in Spain, but what is most worrying are the second goals, such as open bank accounts to obtain credit and thus to be scammed, or many false identities may fall into the hands of terrorists, "Giraldo said.

After the investigation was completed, the police carried out nine searches throughout the country. They found laser engravers, industrial machines, six laser printers, two tampographic and thermographic printing presses, two scanners, three state-of-the-art computer equipment and about 2,000 blank cards, most of them with the integrated chip. "What was striking is that chemicals were found and a very sophisticated and professional artisan dryer. They are not mere counterfeiters, "said the spokesman.

Not to be discovered Néstor Aníbal moved the laboratory from time to time and the last, now dismantled, was in an office building in Rivas Vaciamadrid, Madrid, whose front was a company dedicated to printing.

The researchers defined the main detainee as a "meticulous" man and also a self-taught man, though with printing knowledge or who is dedicated to them at some point in his life. He is now detained in Madrid prison and charged with the crime of "organized gang" and "falsification", for which he could receive a 10-year prison sentence.
