The Brazilian prosecution has asked to withdraw President Jair Bolsonaro from the management of the pandemic

The Deputy Attorney General of the Brazilian Public Prosecutor’s Office, Lucas Furtado, asked the Union Court of Accounts (TCU) remove the country’s President, Jair Bolsonaro, from the administrative and hierarchical functions of the Ministries of Health, Economy and Civil House and thus avoid their intervention in the management of the coronavirus crisis.

The petition is protected by article 44 of the organic law of the TCU, which establishes that the provisional suspension of an official can be pronounced “if there are sufficient indications that, in the exercise of their functions, they can delay or hinder the performance of their duties. audit or inspection, cause further damage to the treasury or make it impossible to compensate them ”.

Likewise, Furtado asked the TCU to recognize “the legitimacy, administrative competence and authority” of the vice-president, Hamilton Mourao, to appoint authorities to manage these ministries.
