The Brexit effect has now plunged the production of cars in the UK

Many scheduled factories stopped production at the beginning of April in order to avoid any problems related to Brexit, which was due to come to fruition on March 29th.

This scenario has led British factories to produce 70,971 vehicles in April, compared to 127,970 in the same month in 2018.

The European Union has set October 31 as a new deadline in the UK to decide whether to ratify the agreed exit conditions or leave the EU bloc unregotiated.

The UK auto industry fears that it is necessary to put in place emergency plans before that date, warned the SMMT.

The report of the professional badociation points out that In the first four months of the year, 127,240 fewer cars were manufactured in the UK compared to the same period in 2018.

"The current data is evidence of the enormous cost and convulsion that the Brexit uncertainty has already caused in car manufacturers and their employees", the executive director of the badociation, Mike Hawes, said in a statement.
