The car was stolen in Chile and the customs wants to impose a fine more expensive than the car – 26/02/2019

When Gastón Elaskar and his family went down to the parking lot of the apartment complex where they were, they realized that their holidays in Chile had just gone bankrupt. The Nissan Versa model 2018 with which they had traveled from Luján de Cuyo (Mendoza) to Coquimbo was not in its place, it had been stolen. However it was only the beginning of the problems for this family that for almost a month lives a nightmare that seems to have no end.

This Thursday, January 31st, he became eternal for the Elaskar family. A dozen carabinieri arrived at the scene, asked for all the information about what had happened, and then checked the security cameras of the establishment. In the pictures they saw that had been two subjects that in broad daylight, they stole the vehicle from the complex located on Avenida Los Pescadores to 3000.

Then a witness who also rented an apartment managed to identify the criminals. However, despite all this material gathered, there has never been a concrete advance. The thieves have never been captured and the cause has stalled.

"We have not seen that Chilean justice has done anything"Gastón protested in front of the Channel 9 cameras and added that the authorities of the trans-Andean country had all the data to catch the criminals and follow the car, but none of this happened.

Disappointed, they went home. They stayed until February 10 to perform procedures in the neighboring country but when they arrived in Argentina they found the worst. At the customs, it was interpreted that the car had been sold in Chilean territory and it is for this reason that the payment of the export duty is required of them, the cost of which is even higher than the value that the car had.

The fine holds in which the car with which they had crossed the border did not return to the country and the family does not have any opinion of Chile on the flight, so it is interpreted as having been sold in the neighboring country.

The owner of the vehicle stated that they left all the papers of denunciation to the customs based in Peltier Street in the city of Mendoza. However, the requests have not declined.

"The only thing they tell us is that we are going to have to pay for sure a fine that exceeds the value of the car, "said Elaskar, annoyed by the authorities." They think we went to Chile to sell the car, "he added.

"We feel totally outraged, not only because of what happened in Chile, but because of everything we live here every day, "said the man who claims to have evidence to prove it was a robbery.
