History

The beginnings of the carnival celebration in 1916, coinciding with the arrival of the railway Carlos Antonio López in the region, mark a before and after in the development of the history of the city. It also coincides with the migratory currents of the beginning of the century, mainly Italians who have much to do with the construction of the new buildings of the city; Encarnación, a city reborn on the banks of the Paraná River at a time when the river environment was of paramount importance. Both roads, the railroad and the river maintained their preponderance until the first half of the century.

The old Villa Encarnación was born again on the shores of Parana, we said; in the so-called Villa Baja, then also called Zona Baja. The urban development of this sector was based on the river and as a limit the laying of the lines of the Railway that goes up to the station Pacú Cuá.

The carnival parades of the beginnings took place in the street Mariscal Jose Felix Estigarribia, formerly known as President Franco; between the streets Capellán Molas, former Tacurú, better known as Calle del Correo, and the street Mariscal Francisco Solano López, then called on October 12 and commonly called "La calle de la Vía".

Carnival celebrations were held during the three days leading up to the beginning of Lent and were prepared over time and with great care. This celebration was awaited with a lot of expectation, mainly from young people; From then on, the novels that have been born and continue to emerge have become famous, this festival being badociated with that of Valentine's Day.

Over the years; the convulsive political life of the early 20's, the hurricane that devastated the lower part of the city on September 20, 1926 and the Chaco war in the early 30s determined the suppression of pain celebrations in the history of the 39; incarnation. From 1936 to 1940 and timidly, the celebration in honor of the god Momo returns, acquiring great strength from 1941, thus forging the foundations of the Carnival of the Incarnation.

Little by little the comparsas evolve. The organization of Corsos since 1988, presents variables; that year, it was organized by the municipality, in the year 1989 by an badociation of participating clubs, in 1990, it is again organized by the municipality; In 1991, the Encarnación Golf Club (CADE) and Rugby Club Encarnación (Rugby Club) are among them. In the year 1992, the Carnival Commission of Encarnación was established.
