The new ruler of the carnestolendas is Valeria Charris Salcedo, a 23-year-old girl, graduated in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad de La Sabana in Bogotá and who currently works at Monómeros. She claims to be passionate about carnival and from a young age she has been a dancer in important dance academies in Barranquilla.
