Nicolás Maduro commemorated Sunday the six years since his proclamation of his election victory and his official accession to power in Venezuela, although he avoided a public event and chose to speak via social networks.

"They have been 6 years of unity, fight, battle and victory. The homeland follows", said the chavist leader on his Twitter account.

During the badennium ruled by Maduro, Venezuela entered the worst economic crisis in its history this includes shortages of food and medicine, the deterioration of public services, the closure of thousands of businesses, the contraction of the economy by more than 50%.

Maduro also noted that with his victory of April 14, 2013 against Henrique Capriles, the Venezuelan people "had ratified his loyalty" to the late President Hugo Chávez, founder of the Bolivarian Revolution. He therefore considered that on that date he had been chosen as "first president chavista"

However, the president of the National Assembly, Juan Guaidó, was proclaimed acting president by invoking the constitution to denounce "the usurpation" of the office. This action has been endorsed by more than 50 countries, many of which consider Maduro a dictator.

In the last six years inflation went from 56% to 1,700,000%. In turn, the minimum wage that the majority of Venezuelan workers earn has been reduced from 200 to about six dollarswhich keeps millions of people in misery.

The United Nations believes that one in four Venezuelans in need of humanitarian badistance and that 3.7 million people have fled the country in recent years.
