The director of L'Osservatore Romano assures that Donne Chiesa Mondo will continue "without clericalism"

Makes Chiesa Mondo (DCM), the Vatican's women's newspaper supplement, L'Osservatore Romano, will not close after its first seven years of existence. This was badured by the current director of the Vatican head, Andrea Monda, who issued a statement in response to Lucetta Scaraffia's decision, director of the monthly, and her team resigning to continue publishing the DCM for failing to find "the support of the new director".

"As for the future of the monthly supplement of L'Osservatore Romano, I can badure you that there was no doubt.And its history does not stop, but continues without clericalism "said Monda. The director explained that, "During these few months after my appointment, I badured Scaraffia and the group of publishers the same autonomy and freedom that characterized the monthly brochure since its birth." And he added: "In no case did I choose any one, man or woman, with the criterion of obedience."

Strengthen L'Osservatore Romano

Responding to Scaraffia's comments, Monda said his "engagement in no way weakened the monthly, the budget being confirmed and translation and dissemination in other countries were guaranteed despite the general need to reduce curia costs. " He also recalled that his commitment "has been and continues to be strengthening the daily edition of L'Osservatore Romano (certainly not in terms of competitiveness but complementarity with the supplement) as it is natural and rightly so ".

The director of L'Osservatore claims to have acted in accordance with the principle of "Opening and parrhesia," asked Pope Francis, "to the words and the teaching of which we all recognize ourselves". Monda also said that he wishes the best of luck to Scaraffia and thanked him for "the valuable work done during these years with a lot of commitment and with total freedom".
