Officers located him after receiving two 911 calls about a man walking down a street in the Austin suburb of Manor. “He had a pistol in his waist, but he was arrested without further violence”said Kristen Dark, a spokesperson for the department.

At the sheriff’s office, Broderick investigated property crimes until his arrest last June, accused of sexually assaulting a minor. “He was put on administrative leave and then resigned,” Dark said.

Broderick is accused of killing three people on Sunday in an apartment complex in what authorities have called a “domestic situation”. The victims were identified as Willie Simmons III, 18; Alyssa Broderick, 17; and Amanda Broderick, 35.

Simmons was a senior at Elgin High School, where he was captain of the football team. and “a leader among his peers,” the statement read, describing him as “the best in Elgin.” He had been recruited to play football at the University of North Texas.

Alyssa Broderick attended district schools from 2009 until last fall, when she retired. “She was a student and a star athlete,” said the district, who enrolled in her high school program and she played on the women’s basketball team.

Following the crime, the FBI assisted local law enforcement in the search for Broderick. At one point, authorities told residents of the area to take shelter in place and said police feared Broderick “was taking a hostage”. The operations were broadcast on television.

Two of Broderick’s former neighbors described him on Sunday as “scary and lonely” and said they lived near him for years, but “could count with both hands” the number of words they exchanged.

In the case which led Broderick to the departure of the police, 16 year old girl told her mom Broderick sexually assaulted her, court records show.

The woman immediately took the teenager to a children’s hospital, where an examination revealed signs of physical trauma. According to The Washington Post, court records indicate that the victim in this case was Alyssa Broderick, su hija.
