An email exchange between employees of Vale and two companies related to dam control that collapsed in Minas Gerais shows that the Brazilian multinational knew that there were irregularities in the data of the dike sensor.

According to a report by TV Globoe-mails were exchanged between Vale officials and two companies hired by the mining company between January 23 and 24. The collapse of the dam occurred on the 25th of this month and left until the moment 150 dead and 182 missing.

According to local media, the police report indicated that the post was talking about irregularities in the piezometers, instruments that measure pore pressure or water level: "The subject of messages refers to divergent data obtained by the reading of the automated instruments (piezometers) of the 10/01/2019, installed in the B1 dam of the CCF, as well as on the non functioning of 5 automated piezometers ".

In this regard, the engineer Makoto Namba, from the German TÜV SÜD – one of the companies in charge of the dam monitoring, badured the authorities that he had aware that changes to the data provided by the sensors after dam failure, reported World.
