BRUSSELS – Brexit supporters who do not intend to make the British exit from the European Union worthy of a "special place in hell", said Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, who does not believe in the existence of a way to avoid the exit of the block by the position of the British Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.
In a particularly outspoken statement made today at the conclusion of a meeting with Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, Tusk said: "I was wondering what that special place in hell would look like for those who promoted Brexit without even having the idea, based on the plan to carry it out safely ".
Although many Britons and all over Europe had hoped that the United Kingdom would stay in the European Union – which Tusk himself repeatedly repeated was possible – this time the President of the Council European has badured that it the conclusion that "there is now no political force or effective leadership" for those who want to stay in the European Union.
He also told reporters that Prime Minister Theresa May and labor opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn had a "Brexit position".
Therefore, in the absence of fifty days just for the UK to leave the bloc, the priority is to try to reach an agreement with May to ensure an orderly withdrawal and avoid disturbing the peace in Northern Ireland, as preparations intensify a chaotic exit.
After a parliamentary majority rejected the deal reached between May and Brussels last month, Mr Tusk said he was expecting May to tell him Thursday at the meeting of Brussels how he intends to put an end to the current stalemate.
