At Maria Florencia Córdova, a student at the National Technological University (UTN) of Tucumán, people stop her on the street to congratulate her. "They ask me if I am the girl going to China," she said. Alejandro Luna Bringas, meanwhile, was afraid to arrive at Ezeiza airport and to be told that he had not traveled to China, that 's what happened to him. they had been confused with one another. Cordovan, a student in telecommunications engineering, had never left the country and had nothing left to do but from the other side of the world. These are two of the ten Argentine students who left yesterday with scholarships to spend two weeks to follow an educational program in Asia.

A few hours after his arrival, Bringas admitted to having three key goals: "I want to know everything, I can, learn everything I can and enjoy everything I can." In fact, it will take two weeks to Learn about Chinese culture and attend seminars on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as part of Huawei's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

They accompany nine other young people, a total of eight men and two women, from public and private universities in the country. They come from Tucumán, Misiones, Córdoba, Santa Fe and Buenos Aires. They are between 23 and 30 years old, they study in engineering and were selected from 300 students who participated in the call. They were evaluated on three pillars: tics, logic and english. Students who have reached the pre-selection phase and who have not pbaded the final phase will have the opportunity to apply for positions at Huawei once graduated, considered as priority.

Training and meeting people

As part of the application process, Córdova had to record a video talking about how he saw the future of telecommunications in Argentina. The video has become viral among the inhabitants of his city. "My expectations are not just for professional training, but I hope to meet many people and bring all I can learn for my university and my province," says tucumana, who hopes this initiative will encourage 39; other women to study hard sciences

Students will visit the company's laboratories and will pbad through Beijing, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. As a global program, they will share their stay with students from the Arab Emirates and Congo. This is the second time that this program is done in the country. To this end, agreements have been signed with the national ministries of modernization and education.

Damián Pedraza is an engineering student at the National University of La Plata and participated in the first edition of the program last year. His main learning experience was discovering that in China the weather is worth a lot, something that he saw materialized even in the number of watches he's seen on the street. "I have learned a lot about a culture that is so different from ours, neither better nor worse, and also about tics." His advice to the young people who left yesterday was: "The trip will allow them to open their eyes, open their heads."

Ignacio Aramburu, a student of computer science and communication, is the only member of the group who already knows Hong Kong. The Tucuman was very excited to come back: "It's an incredible opportunity to discover the new technologies that are changing the world of telecommunications today," he explained. And also to share their culture with other students of the world.

Where does the market go?

"I am currently part of the computer research program of the National University of Misiones and what I learned will be very helpful," said Ana Canteros, another participant. He added that there are several telecommunications projects in his province that he would like to be involved in.

For Gastón Bugnar, student at the UTN of La Plata, it is interesting to know the projection that the company has of "I am very happy to have been selected among the finalists and very grateful for the collaboration that I received from the university: I am an badistant in some subjects of the race [estudia ingeniería en la Universidad de Buenos Aires] and even the students have approached me, "says Tobias Licthig

Students will stay in China until August 12th.
