Áñez was apprehended at dawn on Saturday in the Amazon region of Beni and transferred in a Bolivian Air Force Hercules plane to the city of La Paz.

On Friday, the two former ministers from the same region, also taken to La Paz, were apprehended.

The former president and former ministers are accused of “sedition and terrorism” during the 2019 crisis after the failed elections which led to Evo Morales’ resignation as president.

There are also arrest warrants against former acting ministers of the Presidency Yerko Núñez, Provisional Government (Interior) Arturo Murillo and Defense Luis Fernando López, the latter two not in the country.
