Authorities noted that there is no threat of a tsunami.

Southeast Australia was rocked by a magnitude 5.9 earthquake, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). The earthquake occured at 7:15 am local time. The epicenter was located 128 kilometers east of Melbourne, the capital of the state of Victoria.

Images and videos of various parts of the city affected by the earthquake are circulating on the networks. So far, no possible casualties have been reported.

On Chapel Street, users report damage to buildings.

“Chapel Street appears to have suffered the worst damage from the earthquake,” says one user.

Other users have reported tremors in their homes, however, no major damage has been recorded.

Surviving an earthquake is possible if a “triangle of life” is found, according to specialists, who call this term the narrow space that forms when a building collapses next to a piece of furniture.
