The followers of British royalty awaited the meeting between brothers. Finally – after a year without seeing each other – and after the explosive statements of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to Oprah Winfrey, Princes William and Harry come face to face.
Prince William and Harry spoke as they left the funeral of their grandfather the Duke of Edinburgh at Windsor Castle today. The Duke of Sussex arrived from California last weekend and quarantined at Frogmore Cottage.
Even today, they have been seen together in public. William, 38, and Harry, 36, were among nine royals who walked behind the coffin – though separated by their cousin Peter Philips, at the Queen’s request to minimize tensions.
“The arrangements of the premises have been agreed and represent the wishes of Her Majesty, so we will not say more,” said sources close to the palace, mitigating the decision.
Press captured the moment the brothers – along with Kate Middleton – exchanged words upon their return to the castle after the funeral service.
Harry’s friend Tom Bradby, who today hosted ITV’s funeral coverage, said: “The funeral is a time of reconciliation and it’s a spectacle, let’s be honest, that many wanted to see. And especially the family itself ”.
About an hour earlier, the Duke of Cambridge entered the chapel a place before his younger brother, and the brothers were seated opposite each other during the service, with William alongside his wife Kate Middleton.
William and Harry looked shocked as they walked silently behind the specially adapted Land Rover that carried their grandfather’s coffin as it made its way to the chapel – they looked ahead as they both wore costumes black. It was hoped that the loss of her beloved grandfather could trigger the reunification process.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were previously seen wearing face masks as they exited Kensington Palace in west London in the back of a vehicle before driving the 20 miles to Windsor for the funeral.
Speaking about the brothers ‘conversation today, body language expert Judi James told MailOnline:’ The moment of connection between William and Harry came right at the end of the service when they left the chapel. ANDIn a well-coordinated but also relatively natural moment, Harry walked over to William and Kate, then joined them, walking between them and chatting with the two of them.. After a few seconds of what seemed like a natural, uninhibited conversation, Kate stepped back, leaving the two brothers to walk alone. It seemed like a real moment of unity rather than something meant for the cameras.
Royal attendants ‘walk on eggshells’ as they attempt to bridge the gap between siblings, sources said last night as tensions persist after Harry and Meghan’s bitter separation from the royal family last year, and all the scandals that followed.
The truth is that both brothers are predisposed to keep the peace to support their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, will this be the first step towards imminent reconciliation?
