The former president fired a bullet when they were going to arrest him and died later

Former Peruvian President Alan García died Wednesday after being shot in the head while he was stopped by police at his home, as part of an investigation into the alleged conspiracy bribes the construction company Odebrecht. The former president was transferred to a hospital in Lima, but a few hours later he died as a result of a surgical operation.

Officers from the High Complexity Crimes Investigation Division went to the Exandatario Residence in Miraflores on Wednesday to execute the arrest warrant. Sources quoted by local media said the agents had found him already wounded.
