A woman amputated her left hand with a saw to defraud five insurers in order to collect a sum of several million dollars.

The young woman from the Lithuanian city of Ljubljana intended to claim that she had an accident cutting firewood and following her plan, she left her member lying in the yard of her house in the middle of a pool of blood.

However, his plans did not go as planned, as agents found his hand cut off and took him to the hospital, where the doctors managed to tie him to his forearm.

Despite this, their accomplices tried to claim the insurance of 383,400 euros ($ 432,000) and 3,050 euros ($ 3,500) of monthly disability pensions, but they began to suspect the five insurers.

If their plan had worked, they would fraudulently get an insurance premium of up to 1.2 million euros, plus disability pensions.

The head of the crime department of the body, Valter Zrinski, said that the attempted fraud was carefully prepared by the young woman and by three family members of 29, 58 and 63 years, sentenced to terms ranging from one to eight years in prison.
