Anthony Fauci praises the effectiveness of the Russian vaccine
Russia’s Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine received perhaps the highest praise among those it has garnered since its pioneering creation in August 2020, when Anthony Fauci, America’s top infectious disease authority, said ‘he thought it was “very effective”.
“I think the Russian vaccine is very effective,” the specialist, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told the Hugh Hewitt radio show when asked if he trusted to those developed by Russia and China.
The specialist pointed out that “the data on the Russian vaccine are very good,” after claiming to have studied the “reports” on the inoculant, the Sputnik news agency reported.
Last February, the Russian vaccine was praised by the prestigious British scientific journal The Lancet, after which several countries which doubted its effectiveness reversed this position.
55 countries have already approved the vaccine
Earlier that month, The Lancet published the results of its Phase III clinical trial, which confirmed a safety and efficacy of 91.6%.
Developed by the Gamaleya Center with funding from the Russian Direct Investment Fund and approved in Russia on August 11, 2020, Sputnik V became the world’s first registered Covid vaccine.
The vaccine consists of two doses administered with an interval of 21 days: the first is based on human adenovirus type 26 and the second is based on recombinant human adenovirus type 5.
There are currently 55 countries that have approved it, including Argentina.
The United States is the country hardest hit by the coronavirus and has a terrifying rate of nearly 30 million infections and 542,000 deaths, according to the latest health report.
