The IMF's Executive Board has revealed that it will consider nominating Kristalina Georgieva for the post of Director General replacing French Christine Lagarde, in a process that would last until October 4. The date is crucial because the international organization still has to approve the disbursement of 5.4 billion US dollars for Argentina.
"A candidate, Kristalina Georgieva, currently Executive Director of the World Bank and a Bulgarian citizen, has confirmed her willingness to be considered a candidate," said the fund's officials. According to the board of directors of the agency, "the period for nominating candidates for the post of new Director General was closed on Friday 6 September". Georgieva is currently the only candidate envisaged by the Fund.

The government needs to be very careful because the cash flows were scheduled for September, although the calendar of the board of directors of the multilateral financial entity has not yet evolved.
On the part of the IMF, they said that "the board will now proceed according to the process described in the decision of July 26, including the holding of meetings between the candidate and the directors". The purpose of the meeting "is to complete the selection process as early as possible and no later than October 4, 2019".
