The Iranian Foreign Minister assured that there was "no possibility" of a dialogue with the United States

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif said on Thursday that "there is no possibility" to engage in a dialogue with the United States to reduce the escalating tensions, which seems to have led the two countries to the brink of war, reported the Japanese agency Kyodo.

"No, there is no possibility to start negotiations"said Zarif during the press conference with his counterpart, Foreign Minister Taro Kono, in response to a question whether Iran would be open to bilateral dialogue with the United States.

He seemed to respond to a recent tweet from US President Donald Trump, in which he badured that Iran "will want to talk soon"after dismissing press reports about an alleged White House conflict on the way forward in the Middle East.

"I do not know why President Trump is so confident, but he has made a complete mistake," said Zarif, in statements collected by the chain NHK.

Tehran "has no intention of doing anything that increases the tension", but if their security "is threatened", the country will "respond and defend", said the head of Iranian diplomacy.

Zaif also called on the rest of the countries to get involved to protect the deal. "If the international community benefits from this historic agreement, it must be ready to invest in this agreement and to prevent the United States from spreading illegality and anarchy. After meeting Kono, Zarif was received by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe which has expressed Japan's concern about the growing tension in the Middle East and the desire of this Asian country to maintain and develop its ties.

Since the President of the United States, Donald Trump, has ordered in 2018 the unilateral withdrawal of the United States from the agreement signed by his predecessor, Barack Obama, Washington has reinstated sanctions against Iran and increased pressure on the country, in an escalation of the situation that Mr. Zaif has described as "unacceptable".

Iran responded to the American movement and announced on May 8 that he resigned to sell the surplus production of enriched uranium and heavy water, which were sent to other countries as part of the nuclear deal.

Iranian President Hbadan Rouhani also imposed a 60-day moratorium on other signatories to address current restrictions on the banking system and Iranian oil exports as a precondition for the resumption of the above-mentioned commitments.
