The place is called Molise, and it is one of the many cities in Italy that, in search of an economic boost, make a striking proposal to invite citizens to live there.

Recently there have been a number of villages from the northern Alps to the vineyards of southern Sicily, virtually giving homes to anyone who is willing to spend the money on renovating them to move in.

This Italian city nestled between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea. Like other rural localities, it became uninhabited as the inhabitants moved to the big cities to work and study.

This is why the local authorities are proposing a payment of 25,000 euros deferred for three years. If we convert it to our currency, we are talking about a monthly salary of $ 79,200.

The money is used to start a business and to help jumpstart the economy. The only condition is to stay in Molise for three years and plan to buy a house, which is not very expensive. There is no restriction on nationality.

In turn, they say that, preferably, they want the new inhabitants of the city of 2,000 inhabitants, according to the last census carried out in 2018, to have children.

“I want my region to experience a renaissance and prevent its authentic towns from turning into ghost towns,” Antonio Tedeschi, a regional advisor who came up with the idea, told CNN Travel. “We must safeguard our roots.”

The official plan will be communicated to candidates on September 16. And Molise’s offer has the potential to be the most lucrative for anyone looking to take the plunge.
