The King of Thailand is married by surprise with an exazafata and the general of his royal guard at the days of his coronation

King of Thailand Vajiralongkorn announced Wednesday, a few days before the coronation planned for this weekend, that he was married and that his wife, Suthida, was becoming the new queen.

The monarch, married and divorced three times, "officially married" with Suthida Vajiralongkorn na Ayudhya, an exazafata with whom he has shared his life for several years, according to a statement released Wednesday night in the Royal Gazette.

"His Majesty and General Suthida Vajiralongkorn na Ayutthaya are officially married according to law and tradition"indicates the official announcement published in the Royal Gazette, which also states that the king has appointed his wife "Queen suthida", a title that will now be "as a member of the royal family".

The ceremony was held at the Royal Palace of Dusit in Bangkok. According to the pictures, the king wore a white uniform, while Suthida wore a traditional Thai dress in pink silk and fell at the feet of the king, as tradition says.

The announcement was made three days before the coronation ceremonies between May 4th and 6th, almost three years after King Vajiralongkorn ascended the throne after the death of his father Bhumibol in October 2016.

The coronation itself will be celebrated on Saturday. On Sunday, the king will be transported over six kilometers through the historic center of Bangkok in a golden palanquin worn by soldiers. On Monday, he will appear on one of the balconies of the Grand Palace and will welcome foreign diplomats in audience.

After the bond, Suthida will enjoy – like the rest of the royal family – the protection of the lèse-majestad law, which provides for punishments between three and fifteen years in prison for anyone who defames or insults the monarchy.

Fourth wife of the king

Queen Suthida is the fourth wife of the ruler, who married for the first time in 1977 with Soamsavali Kitiyakara, a maternal cousin who gave her a daughter, Bajrakitiyabha, from whom she divorced.

Later, he maintained a long relationship with actress Yuvadhida Polpraserth, who ended marriage in 1994 and separated in 1996 and from whom were born four children and one daughter.

The third marriage, with Srirasmi Suwadee, with whom he had a son, was announced in 2005 and ended in divorce in 2014.
