The last phase of Julen's rescue, the Spanish dropped into the well in Malaga

Thursday afternoon, two miners put to the test a lift cage of 1.05 meters in diameter and 2.5 meters in height. Going down, they confirmed that the environment is not the best: little ventilation, little oxygen and no light.

For this reason, it will take between 30 and 40 minutes to work and secure the wooden posts to create the gallery of more than two meters high. They will have the tools they need to keep running and the self-contained equipment to breathe.

The miners verified that there was an earth ground obstructing the well. They tried to reach the two-year-old by a horizontal well, but they understood that the best option was a parallel tunnel. For this, they removed 23 meters from the hill and from there, they began to dig a new tunnel 1.5 meters in diameter and more than 60 meters deep. The parallel tunnel took 55 hours because of the hardness of the materials.

As they go deeper, the walls are reinforced with metal tubes to prevent landslides and facilitate the movement of the elevator with which they plan to bring Julen to the surface.

Relief operations continue and they hope to reach little Julen in the next 24 hours. Parents do not lose hope of recovering their son.
