After months of being a fugitive, he went to the Attorney General's office Pablo Alejandro Macias Sapuy, who had an arrest warrant for the feminicide of Sandra Milena Cuéllar Vargas, 24, last December in the municipality of Florencia, Caquetá Department.
After midnight Christmas Eve, December 24, 2018, Sandra Milena spent time with her friends and family in a house in the Juan XXIII neighborhood, in the city's downtown, when dispute broke out about an apparent jealousy.
Cuellar Vargas arrived, in a state of intoxication, to ask his wife to flirt with a neighbor. Sandra Milena was by her side and tried to defend her so that she was not attacked, and then a fight began between her and the feminicide.
The man, annoyed by the fact that his wife was protected by his friend, took a sharp weapon and caused a neck injury to Sandra Milena. The woman was immediately transferred to the Medilaser Clinic by the neighbors who accompanied them, but died shortly afterwards because of the injury.
The witnesses alerted the authorities and Macías Sapuy decided to flee, but until recently, he voluntarily surrendered. Now, he has to face an aggravated homicide sentence. The judge decided not to issue an insurance measure in a penitentiary center during the course of the trial.
Last month, the Office of the Prosecutor released a report guaranteeing that 85.42% of the femicides reported in Colombia have been resolved. That is, out of a total of 48 known cases in the first quarter of 2019, 41 of them were captured and their facts and causes are clear.
