The National Guard rescued more than 100 migrants traveling in a trailer in Nuevo León

Elements of the National Guard (GN) who carried out patrols in the vicinity of the commune of General Bravo rescued 108 traveling migrants crammed into a trailer. According to reports from the National Migration Institute (INM), they came from Central America and were seeking to cross the border into the United States.

The trailer truck was traveling along the Monterrey-Reynosa highway, in its China Entronque La Sierrita section, when law enforcement stopped it to conduct a safety inspection. As they approached the cabin and after questioning people, they realized that the woman in the passenger seat was a Honduran national.

Then, They searched the cabin of the vehicle, where they found four people in overcrowded conditions. Likewise, as the box approached, several knocks were heard, so they asked the driver to open it for overhaul. As they opened the doors, they noticed the presence of 103 additional people.

After the operation, the driver of the truck was entered in the national register of detentions. Likewise, with unity, has been made available to the authorities of the Attorney General of the Republic of the entity, where the corresponding procedure will be carried out.

On the other hand, the migrants received water and their health was checked. They were transferred to the multi-purpose hall of the municipality of China, Nuevo León, where their data was collected, and then transported to the facilities of the National Institute of Migration.

According to the site nuevolaredo.tv, the authorities of Comprehensive family development (DIF) of the entity declared that among the population were 17 unaccompanied minors. Likewise, at least 40 families made the tour with one or two minors.

In accordance with the provisions of the reforms of the laws on migration and refugees, complementary protection and political asylum, enacted in November 2020 in the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF), Migrant children and adolescents can no longer be detained in detention centers. In addition, families cannot be separated by the authorities.

For this reason, families were referred to migrant homes within the state, while unaccompanied minors were transported to the Fabriles refuge at DIF.
