The number of Jews in the world is still lower than before the Holocaust

As part of the Holocaust Remembrance Day to be held on Wednesday night, the Central Bureau of Statistics of Israel released data on the world's Jewish population and Holocaust survivors.

According to the published report, the Jewish population around the world would have reached by the end of 2017 a total of 14.6 million people.

This figure would be very similar to the number of Jews living in 1925 (14.8 million), although it is still below those of 1939, before the Holocaust (16.6 million).

In addition, the report states that 6.5 million Jews live in Israel, about 5.7 million in the United States, 453,000 in France, 391,000 in Canada, 290,000 in the United Kingdom and 180,000 in Argentina.

The Bureau of Statistics also reported that at the end of 2017, 212,300 Holocaust survivors were living in Israel, about 8,000 fewer than at the end of 2016. According to a previous report from this agency, only 29% They lived until the end of 2016, they will stay alive in 2030.
