The OA and the CRF refuse to suspend the trial of Cristina Kirchner – Telam

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (OA) and the Financial Information Unit (FIU) have today rejected the cases of the suspension of the oral proceedings of former President Cristina Kirchner and the arrested persons. 39; former Minister of Planning Julio De Vido and businessman Lázaro Báez, among others, in the debate on alleged crimes with national public works in Santa Cruz.

Following the presentation of the two complaints, the Federal Oral Court 2 ordered that the trial be continued on Monday, August 26, to determine whether the motions for the suspension of oral argument presented by defendants' defenses are accepted or rejected.

"We have not noticed any reason to suspend this debate," said one of OA's lawyers, Juan Duré, in his response to the 51 preliminary arguments of the defense with objections to trial, during a new hearing in the courts of retirement.

The agency is the complainant in the Financial Information Unit case and has responded to the so-called preliminary issues raised by the defenses and on which the Court will have to rule.

The lawyers of OA, Dure and Omar Sosa, rejected the proposals to suspend the debate and denied having violated the guarantees of the defense "or any other constitutional guarantee".

"Throughout the 20 years in the office of the fight against corruption, we always act in the direction of the truth," said Duré.

On issues raised by the defenses, OA lawyers argued that it was not possible to "go back a year and a half" in the case and that many of these problems had already been solved in other cases.

With regard to the appeals pending resolution in the country's Supreme Court of Justice, the OA claimed that the trial could continue while the highest court of the country had not yet ruled this regard.

"There is no violation of the principle of equality of arms," ​​they added, while the FIU adhered to the OA statement.

Former President Cristina Kirchner did not attend the debate because she is not obliged to do so at this stage, as well as other defendants, such as those arrested by the former Minister of Planning, Julio De Vido , Báez, the former Secretary of Public Works, José López, and the cousin of the president. At the previous hearing, the trial attorney, Diego Luciani, had already asked for the rejection of all the issues and the continuity of the oral proceedings.

The trial for the supposed public works address in Santa Cruz in favor of the Báez detainee's companies and for the alleged supplements and the failings in the realization is at the stage of the answer to the requests of the defense.

The Court heard the OA and should also present its financial information unit.

Then, it will announce whether this leaves a place or not to the issues in dispute and if the stay of the trial is dismissed, the investigative statements will be opened.

At this stage, the presence of all accused will be mandatory.
