The OAS approved the appointment of Gustavo Tarre, representative of Venezuela appointed by Juan Guaidó

The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) on Tuesday approved a resolution to recognize as the permanent representative of Venezuela in front of the agency in Gustavo Tarre, appointed by the leader of the opposition Juan Guaidó.

The session of the Permanent Council, of an extraordinary nature, began more than an hour late because there was a voting problem, diplomatic sources told EFE.

At this meeting, Trump pledged financial support to leaders from five Caribbean countries (Bahamas, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Haiti and the Dominican Republic).

The resolution, presented by Colombia with the support of seven countries (Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Paraguay, Peru and Colombia), aimed at "accepting the appointment of Mr. Gustavo Tarre, as Permanent Representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Permanent Council of the OAS, as stated in the text.

It was approved with 18 votes in favor, 9 against and 1 absent.

Taking into account the result of this vote, The new Venezuelan Ambbadador to the OAS, Gustavo Tarre, published on his Twitter account a publication celebrating this measure: "Today, we have ceased the usurpation of our OAS Permanent Council Chairmanship, an important step towards attaining the goals set by President Juan Guaidó."

One of Venezuela's representatives to the agency, Asbina Ixchel Marin Sevilla, objected to the convening of the session, saying that she was in violation of the OAS rules of procedure.

"If this manipulation is allowed, national sovereignty and popular sovereignty will be eliminated and we will live in a world that no longer falls under international law, but the law of the strongest or most numerous," said Marin Sevilla, sitting in the headquarters for Venezuela.
