From Paris
They occupied a day and a color: Saturday and yellow. They punctually filled the public space that day and with that color until the day XI. The movement of yellow vests has again this Saturday its emblem and its protest in several cities in France: including Paris, Toulouse, Bordeaux. During the Christmas and New Year holidays, the mobilization refused to regain strength on January 5 – 50,000 demonstrators, then 12 and 19 with about 90,000 people who went out on the street according to official figures. The day number XI took them already divided, some tempted by the traditional political action and the idea already presumed to present a list for the European elections next May, others distant from the core of the movement and all under the slow anesthetic effects of President Emmanuel Macron's organized national debate, around 30 questions divided into four themes: purchasing power, taxation, democracy and the environment. The debate aims to defuse this great political and social crisis. However, the determination remains standing. The national debate has not channeled popular anger and this weekend, yellow vests have covered the streets of about 70,000 people. The repression was fierce. In the Republic Square, where the "yellow night" was to take place, there were more police officers than protesters. Tears and tear gas rained to prevent the Parisian night from wearing yellow.
Several incidents of a certain gravity marked the march in the French capital. Groups of fachos went to meet yellow columns. On the Place de la Bastille, the atmosphere was a very strange mixture of people walking quietly with their children, others who were shopping, many tourists of all nationalities who came to the Bastille to see and film the vests with their phones and yellow vests deployed on the square amidst several armies of riot police. The cries "Macron Demisión", tear gas and projectiles launched on both sides have become the common ingredient. The clashes have resulted in several serious injuries, including one of the characters in the yellow vest, Jerome Rodrigues, wounded in the eye. All the stories common to half of humanity revolved around the Place de la Bastille. People who can not make ends meet, others who can not pay for electricity or gas, pensioners who barely survive their pensions and marriages tortured by a banker because of a shortfall 150 euros. The harbadment and daily destruction of oppressive liberalism against the most vulnerable. The demolishing routine of an infected system avenging the most fragile of what forgives and gives to the powerful and the haves.
Now, the theme of the future of the movement is raised as never before when the counter-demonstrations organized by the "red scarves" also parade through the streets to defend Emmanuel Macron. Ingrid Levavbadeur, one of the first figures of the yellow jackets, decided to incorporate a yellow voters list in anticipation of this year's European elections. This has caused a schism within a group that makes no illusions with the unequal charms of representative democracy. The clashes that led to the entry into the traditional political space repudiated Ingrid Levavbadeur reflect the two currents that fracture the movement today: on the one hand those who do not give up to overthrow the government in the street with the repetition demonstrations and maintain a radical mistrust of political representatives: on the other, the moderates. This sector is convinced that all the capital accumulated by the yellow vests should not be left to float in the void and that they must necessarily engage in the political field. One of the leaders of the vests, Maxime Nicolle, aka Fly Rider, challenged Levavbadeur's candidacy, which he described as "betrayal". According to Fly Rider, participating in the "European elections" means staying in the current system and participating in a game in which we do not define the rules. Do not think that participating in elections will change anything. If that was the case, things would have changed a long time ago. "The submission of a list for the European elections of May 2019 is, for the most radical wing, a triple betrayal: it goes against the fundamental identity of the movement, it introduces the figure of the leader, something that does not exist between the vests according to the traditional interpretation of the term … And, finally, it breaks the horizontal balance of the decision-making processes as conceived by the vests. Levavbadeur is thrown alone, without consulting anyone, and has taken everyone by surprise. "Opponents today accuse the candidate of" stealing the values and identity of the movement. "The sector the most uncompromising does not change the roadmap. Its most visible representative, truck driver Eric Drouet, felt that the candidacy of Ingrid Levavbadeur was purely and simply an "abject lift." Then he called for a " general blockade "of France since February 5. Drouet is the pri main opponent of any contact with the norms of representative democracy. On his Facebook page, he conducted a survey: of the 19,000 voters, 98% opposed the existence of a list of "yellow vests" in the European consultation. The woman, a nursing profession and extremely popular a few weeks ago, can pay this mbadive opposition at the polls. This is not the only one that has been pilloried. All the other vests that flirted with a system that the majority repudiated were expelled or isolated in a mbadive way. This is the opposite position defended by the future candidate. As he explains, he "tries to go to Brussels so that the demands of the citizens are heard".
The executive, thanks to the national debate, has found in the last 10 days a little popularity. But just walk for a moment with the yellow vests or approach the many roundabouts that still occupy to feel a thick ash, something that is not swallowed, a kind of despair that none of the many tricks of communication political now, soothe.
