This Friday, May 21, the Ombudsman’s Office published some of the reports of violence that were recorded during the day of demonstrations which is already more than 20 days old. In the report, the entity confirmed that it has received so far 23 reports of sexual violence generated during the marches.

Among the cases they reported were that of the young woman from Popayán who was allegedly groped by Esmad’s agents and subsequently committed suicide, and that of the police patroller who recently said he had been the victim of sexual violence by some demonstrators.

Likewise, from April 28 to May 21, 2021, the Ombudsman’s Office received a total of 106 reports of gender-based violence against women and people with sexual orientation and gender identity.
