The Director of the National Police, General Jorge Luis Vargas delivered this morning, through a video, the results of Operation Tsunami, carried out by the Directorate for the Fight against Kidnappings and Extortion of this institution, in coordination with the Office of the Attorney General. According to this balance, 244 captures were made in Bogotá, Medellín, Cali and 24 departments of Colombia.

According to the uniformed officer, the operation lasted a total of nine days during which At least 750 police, 61 prosecutors, 180 cars, 60 motorcycles and 44 operations were needed. “The primary dismantling of 36 organized criminal groups has been achieved, the involvement of several organized armed groups including the ELN, the Clan del Golfo and other main regional criminal gangs, such as the ‘Pachenca’ and the Pachelly”, he added.

In addition to the coup against the “Pantaneros” in Cali, authorities also reported the dismantling of the organized criminal group known as the “Third generation” after the capture of 12 of its suspected members, who concentrated their criminal actions in the district of Terrón Colorado from the capital of the Valle del Cauca. There, they engaged in various criminal activities such as extortion, the sale of drugs, the execution of killings, forced displacement and the use of minors for the commission of crimes.

Likewise, the capture in Bogotá of suspected members of the criminal group known as the “Comrades”, who extorted and displaced to families who refused to pay fees amounting to 600,000 pesos per month in exchange, supposedly, not to rob them of their homes. They were also charged a monthly fee of 200,000 pesos in exchange for private security in the neighborhood of Nueva Roma, in the city of San Cristóbal.

However, General Vargas pointed out that “164 of these people have so far been deprived of their liberty, that is to say with a deprivation of liberty. The others are still awaiting hearings on the measure to be taken by the judges of the Republic. It is important to note that 36 of these people are charged with kidnapping, 212 of them for extortion and 6 arrests were made for other crimes. Of the 244 arrests, 13 of them were in flagrante delicto, 209 by court order ”.

There are also imputations made against people who committed crimes from prisons and even the apprehension of a minor, added the man in uniform.

In addition, the operation leaves other important balances in terms of foreclosures, such as the implementation of precautionary measures for three properties, belonging to the band of ‘Pachelly’ And located in Bello, Antioquia. They are valued at over 5,000 million pesos.

At the same time, the confiscation of 7 firearms, 41 cartridges, 4 suppliers, a fragmentation grenade, two motorcycles, 155 cell phones, 155 Sim cards, 19 microSD cards and 6 million pesos.
