The Salamanca Red Cross has ceased its activities in the municipality of Salamanca, in the state of Guanajuato, for security reasons. The institution said that medical services would not be provided at its facilities or that emergency services would be managed by ambulances in Salamanca.

"Due to some violent events in which our staff has been exposed, by order of our institutional authorities, no service will be provided," he said.

Last Saturday, paramedics from the Red Cross were carrying an injured man in an ambulance when armed men approached in a vehicle to violently lower the wounded.The incident occurred while the ambulance was crossing the El Deportivo neighborhood, forcing him into the car in case the rescuers were not injured.
