The Peruvian exmandatario committed suicide during a judicial investigation because of his alleged links with the Brazilian company Odebrecht. In the text, he says: "I leave my corpse as a sign of contempt for my adversaries"

As we remember, the Peruvian President Alan García, who committed suicide Wednesday with a bullet in his head while he was going to be arrested for a corruption case related to the Brazilian company Odebrecht, left a letter to his six children that was read his wake.

The letter was read by his daughter during the wake. "I leave my children the dignity of my decisions, my colleagues a sign of pride, and my body as a sign of my contempt for my adversaries because I have already fulfilled the mission I have set for myself". writes the exmandatario.

According to the newspaper El Comercio, his daughter, Luciana García Nores, would have read the letter aloud in the wake held at the Casa del Pueblo, headquarters of the Peruvian Aprista Party (APRA), in Lima.

The letter begins with García referring to his role as politician and member of aprismo. "I fulfilled the mission of leading the apismo to power twice and we again promoted its social strength.I think it was the mission of my existence, rooted in the blood of this movement, "said the former president.

"Because of this and because of the setbacks of power, our opponents opted for the strategy of criminalizing me for over 30 years, but they never found anything and I defeated them again because they did not will never find more than their speculations and their frustrations, "he continues.

He then explained how "in this period of repeated rumors and hatreds" he could see how "procedures are used to humiliate, vex and find no truth".

Alan García goes on to say that he stood "above insults" for many years and stressed that "the homage of my enemies was to badert that Alan García was very clever not to to be able to prove his slanders ".

Finally, he says that he leaves his corpse "as a sign of my contempt for my adversaries, because I have already fulfilled the mission I have badigned myself".

Having been one of the main protagonists of Peruvian politics over the last 40 years, notably because of high inflation in the 1980s and measures to reduce poverty, García has not resisted the insulted the prison and committed suicide by shooting in the head. His death caused a stir in Peru, where the last five exmandatarios were the subject of legal proceedings.

The prosecution was investigating whether the former president had committed the crime of money laundering, trafficking in influence and collusion, because of suspicions that he would have received bribes Odebrecht to award him the construction of a subway line in Lima.
