Teachers in Buenos Aires will return to unemployment next Monday, after rejecting the latest offer of salary from the government of Buenos Aires headed by Maria Eugenia Vidal. They will add 29 strike days so far this year.
Guilds formed within the FUDB (Front Unit Unit) of Buenos Aires had previously rejected the latest offer of the provincial government to grant them a 2% increase in December.
"From the teaching unit of the Buenos Aires Front, at the eleventh joint meeting, we categorically reject the government's proposal, which consists of 2%, which means $ 108 at the base, which involves $ 250 of the initial pocket salary that will be billed in January for the remainder of 2018, "explain the teachers in a statement.
"The proposal for increase for 2019 has been rejected by all the unions that make up the FUDB, it is not a parity, it's a new lack of respect. We are asking from the start of the negotiations a wage recomposition with the application of a trigger clause on each concept, and the governor proposes a sum in black to close the year, "continued the front of teaching.
The government's offer also included a bonus of $ 7,000 for teachers and $ 3,500 for retirees, said a union source at the end of the joint meeting held in La Plata.
The sector that has reached an agreement with the Government of Buenos Aires is that of the State, which they accepted the 32% increase plus a bonus of $ 7,000 and $ 3,500 for retireesas part of an agreement providing for a 20% increase, subject to a revised inflation, for 2019.
The management of María Eugenia Vidal also proposed in the agreement a 20% increase for the next year, to be paid in six stages: 4% in January, 4% in March, 4% in May and 4% in July; thus reaching, until that moment, 16%; to this would be added a half-yearly update clause, which would also be allocated 2% in September and an additional 2% in November.
