The government has set today 660 pesos the price of the train ticket from the city of Buenos Aires to Mar del Plata, which represents an increase of 29% compared to the previous rate, which was 510 pesos.
This was organized in the framework of the resolution 1041/2018, published Tuesday in the Official Journal with the signature of the Minister of Transport, Guillermo Dietrich, and which will come into effect on Wednesday. In the regulations, the reference rate is increased by 39.7% to 475 pesos.
According to Transporte, the first clbad will now cost 660 pesos and the pullman category will go from $ 615 to 795 pesos.
"The reference rate corresponds to the first clbad, and a coefficient of 1.2 must be applied to determine the rate of the pullman clbad" (which would rise to 570 dollars), says the text.
According to the resolution, the railway company Sociedad de Estado (Sofse) issued a report stating that "the current tariffs for pbadenger rail transport in the corridor are of the order of 62% compared to the reference rate for motor transport, in equivalent categoryand that the maximum fare for the railway is in the order of 56% of the maximum rate of application of the pbadenger car, whereas at the time of the last tariff update (December 2016), this report was 87% ".
In addition, he stated that "pbadenger rail service, thanks to investment in the sector, has reduced travel time so that it places them in full competition with the collective, in addition to improving the quality of travel related to the comparative advantages of the mode, such as the use of the dining car, the spacious bathrooms, the possibility of internal circulation, a better panoramic visual impact, among others ".
For this reason, Transporte considered that "it is necessary to minimize distortions between competing modes, to understand the system as a whole in the context of intermodality, to update at approximately 85% the tariff relation between the train and the collective, without harming the economic nature of the rail mode "
For the government, the tariff proposed by Sofse "is consistent with the provision of services, following the general principle of offering a social tariff available to all social sectors, in addition to the need to provide a quality service, safe and secure. secure, in a competitive manner, taking into account the existing commercial speed in accordance with the infrastructure renewal plans being implemented ".
In parallel, the Ministry of Transport announced that it would add a new frequency on the train connecting the capital to Mar del Plata from Friday, December 7.
The additional service, daily frequency, will leave the Plaza Constitución in 6:22 and will return from Mar del Plata at 1:14 pm He will join the usual train, which leaves the capital from Monday to Saturday at 15:29 and begins the return of Mar del Plata at 1:01.
