Once again, the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) left premium gasoline without a fiscal stimulus. Taking this into account, drivers will have to pay the full Special Tax on Production and Services (IEPS).
In this way, the “red” fuel again lacks support, after a week of having benefited from this advantage.
We must not forget that in Mexico, a tax is levied on gasoline consumed, that is to say the special tax on production and services. (IEPS) Federal, which determines the SHCP, based on the exchange rate, international reference oil prices and logistics costs.
In this sense and according to the Official Journal of the Federation (DOF), consumers must pay 4.31 pesos per liter more for the IEPS, against 4.20 pesos a few days ago.
The stimulus of this essence, which is characterized by being the most expensive, will be in force from Saturday April 17 to Friday 23 of the same month.
In the meantime, the changes for the next few days in the case of fuels will be as follows:
Magna
The fiscal stimulus for the “greens” will be less, dropping from 33.85% to 30.31%. In this case, users will pay 3.56 pesos per liter.
Diesel
In this case, the percentage of the stimulus for the same period will be 1.64% Drivers will apply IEPS 5.52 pesos.
GASOLINE PRICE TODAY
This Friday gasoline costs in Mexico are as follows
* Regular gasoline (Magna), average price per liter: 20,807 pesos
* Premium gasoline: 22,469 pesos per liter
* Average diesel price per liter: 21,401 pesos

Even the head of the Federal Consumer Prosecutor’s Office (Profeco), Berenice Romero, assured that the price of Premium gasoline was sold last week at a price of up to 25.5 pesos per liter.
This is a figure that has alarmed the population, in addition to exceeding the cost compared to the same period last year, when Premium fuel on April 6, 2020 reached 21.99 pesos per liter at some stations around the country.
In addition, the cost of gasoline may vary in Mexico due to various factors such as: benchmark prices, taxes and logistics.
The benchmark price is based on international oil prices, as it is generally stated in dollars, therefore the average cost of gasoline in this case will change against the dollar-peso exchange rate.
