According to CBP, the illicit drug is mainly seen as a powder that can be mixed with heroin and also in the form of blue pills that are counterfeit prescription drugs, such as oxycodone.

Synthetic fentanyl has replaced heroin as the leading drug related to overdose deaths in the United States, according to a report with 2016 data released last December by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) , which points out that deaths due to this cause increased by 54% between 2011 and 2016.
