The number of people vaccinated reaches up to 70% in the case of over 65s, while 83 percent of this group received the first injection.

According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), nearly 252 million doses have been applied, and in particular, nearly 109 million have already received the full immunization schedule in the United States. , of which it has a population of 330 million inhabitants.

In the North American country, vaccines from pharmaceutical companies Moderna and Pfizer are used, as well as that of Johnson & Johnson, although the latter is suspended for the moment to study possible side effects.

On Wednesday, the United States government announced its support for global publication of COVID-19 vaccine patents and indicated that he would negotiate the terms of this assignment with the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Although the intellectual property rights of companies are important, Washington “supports the exemption of these protections for covid-19 vaccines”, U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai said in a statement.

“It’s a global health crisis and extraordinary circumstances of the covid-19 pandemic require extraordinary measures, ”he added.

On the other hand, As of Thursday, the United States reached 32,601,576 confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and 580,025 deaths from covid-19 disease, according to the independent count from Johns Hopkins University.

That balance at 8:00 p.m. local time (00:00 GMT Friday) is 776 more deaths than Wednesday and 46,080 new infections.

California is now the hardest hit state by the pandemic with 62,137 deaths, followed by New York (52,572), Texas (50,527), Florida (35,549), Pennsylvania (26,410), New Jersey (25,740) and Illinois (24,483).

The other states with a large number of deaths are Georgia (20,294), Ohio (19,344), Michigan (19,223), Massachusetts (17,663) or Arizona (17,367).

As for contagions, California has 3,751,782, followed by Texas with 2,909,076, the third is Florida with 2,258,433 and New York is fourth with 2,064,530.

The provisional death toll -580,025- far exceeds the lower limit of initial White House estimates, which at best projected between 100,000 and 240,000 deaths from the pandemic.

The president of the United States, Joe Biden, predicted that in total more than 600,000 people in the country would die from the virus.

For its part, the Institute for Health Metrics and Assessments (IHME) at the University of Washington, whose models for predicting the evolution of the pandemic are often set by the White House, estimates that by August 1 , some 610,000 people will have died.
