The Vatican prepares a Global Catholic Pact on the Family in the Year of Amoris Laetitia

One of the fruits of the preparations for the World Meeting of Families, which will take place in June 2022, will be the establishment of a “Global Catholic Pact on the Family”, an initiative promoted by two dicasteries of the Curia. Romana.

More precisely, the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life, in collaboration with the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences (PASS) promote this unprecedented initiative which also has the collaboration of the International Center for Studies on the Family (in Italian “Centro Internazionale Studi Famiglia”, CISF).

As reported by the Vatican on August 6, this Catholic Global Pact on the Family will be “a common program of actions for the promotion of the family in the world in the light of the social doctrine of the Church”.

“The Pact will involve the Centers for Studies and Research on the Family present in Catholic universities on the five continents, through the compilation of information and research carried out on the cultural and anthropological relevance of the family, with particular attention to family relations, the social value of the family and good practices in family policy at the international level, ”states a note from the Vatican.

It is also one of the fruits of the conclusion of the Extraordinary Year “Family Joy“Which has been summoned by Pope Francis for the fifth anniversary of this apostolic exhortation, and which takes place at the same time as the“ Year of Saint Joseph ”.

Likewise, the Extraordinary Year of the Family will end with the World Meeting of Families scheduled for June 2022, and whose main seat is the city of Rome, but whose program also includes many initiatives for each local reality to be implemented. work and to be carried out in regional groups, and so that some of the activities that will take place in Rome and the Vatican can be followed at a distance.

Finally, the Vatican note provided that, as part of this initiative, the organizers would conduct an investigation to build the said Global Catholic Pact. The answers to the questionnaire could serve as a basis for the content of the final proposal which will be presented “as part of a closing event, before the World Meeting of Families in June 2022”.
