The Venezuelan health sector has announced protests for this week: “We are tired of continuing to violate our rights”

Since the start of the pandemic, Venezuelan doctors have denounced the precarious conditions in which they have had to deal with the coronavirus. For this reason, and added to the humanitarian crisis that was already crossing the country, the health sector announced this Sunday protest measures for this week.

Health workers seek “Full payment of what was agreed upon in the agreement document.”

Mauro Zambrano, general coordinator of Monitor Salud, explained in his social networks What will be the agenda of the demonstrators, which will take place from Tuesday to Thursday.

Next Tuesday, July 6, health workers “will demonstrate at the doors of the hospitals where they work, at 9 am”. The next day, they will walk to the Ministry of Health at the same time.

Thursday, meanwhile, will be the day of “sit down, nobody works”, by repudiating the conditions under which Venezuelan health workers have to deal with the pandemic.

This call takes place after the week, From June 22 to 28, the NGO Médicos Unidos de Venezuela (MUV), reported a total of 14 health workers who died “with criteria of covid-19”, with which the number of health workers died since the start of the pandemic has increased to 683.

“Report of June 28, information is received of 14 new deaths of health workers with covid-19 criteria, reaching 683 deaths”, denounced the NGO in its Twitter account in which they underline that the dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro has reported just over 3,000 deaths to date since the start of the pandemic. Figures that from the start have been questioned by the opposition and a large part of the international community, which demand greater transparency of information and official data on the real impact of the coronavirus in the country.

Faced with this situation, the organization took up one of the classic Chavismo slogans by emphasizing that “The death of health workers” in Venezuela is happening “at the pace of the winners” and “without a control strategy”.

Among the deceased, there are five surgeons, six nurses, a bioanalyst, a dentist and a union leader, the organization said, reiterating that its reports “are based on clinical, epidemiological, diagnostic and laboratory criteria”.

They also explained that their figures “are not necessarily included in the minutes”, so they publish these lists “in order to warn staff and avoid failures”.

Lara State (3) tops the list with the most deaths in those seven days, followed by Zulia (2), Bolívar (2), Falcón (2), Portuguesa (1), Nueva Esparta ( 1), Caracas (1), Carabobo (1) and Guarico (1).

In this way, the northwestern state of Zulia remains the region where more health workers have died from covid-19 since the start of the pandemic (138), followed by Caracas (95), while 18 others lost the battle in Miranda state, which is home to much of the capital’s metropolitan area.

On June 16, it was a year since the first health worker had died of covid-19 in Venezuela, Samuel Viloria, a doctor from Zulia. that, according to complaints from his colleagues, he should not have been on the front line of care for the pandemic since he was undergoing treatment for a kidney transplant.

Since then, they have denounced that they do not have sufficient protective equipment and that some still do not receive vaccines.

Regarding vaccination, The Venezuelan Medical Federation asked the population a few days ago to “not inject” the Cuban vaccine in the Abdala tests, pointing out that it is an “experimental biologic”, after Maduro’s diet last week reported the arrival of an unknown number of the drug.

“Abdala is not a vaccine. It is an experimental biological product that has not been authorized by the Cuban Center for Drug Control or by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), ”said the president of the federation, Douglas Leon Natera, quoted in a press release.

He noted that “very little” is known about the drug developed by Cuba against covid-19, for which he recommended to the population “not to inject this product”. “Venezuelan citizens are not guinea pigs and the Medical Federation is warning the population not to be injected with this supposed vaccine, which is not a vaccine,” he added.

For the doctor, the announcement of the arrival of the drug “is another affair of the Venezuelan government with the Castro-Communist administration”.

According to Léon Natera, the Chavist dictatorship “intends to impose political and social control” and “does not hesitate to play with the lives of Venezuelans”.

The announcement of Abdala’s arrival in Venezuela has sparked concern from the health union, which mainly argues that it still cannot be considered a vaccine because it does not have clearance from the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Venezuelan regime signed a contract with Cuba last Thursday for 12 million doses of Abdala which it says will arrive in the country in the coming months.
