The Venezuelan Parliament, with a majority of opposition, set in 12 months the maximum validity of a possible transitional government led by the acting president Juan Guaidó, which would begin by "ceasing" what he considers a "usurpation" of power by Nicolás Maduro.

The text states, however, that elections must be held as soon as possible.
The Constitution orders that, in case of "absolute lack" of the presidency, elections be held in 30 days and that the President of the Legislative Assembly, currently Guaidó, he takes over the position while a new president takes power.
