The National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC) increased flight authorizations to Ezeiza by American airlines, in particular United y Delta Airlines, throughout this month.

Greater flexibility of the governing body Paola Tamburelli, who until now had maintained a strict limit of no more than 2000 passengers per day in Ezeiza, coincides with the announcement of the reprisals against Argentina announced by the American aeronautical authorities, who denounced “the absence of reciprocity” in the flight authorizations. The sanction, in force since May 24, consists of requiring Aerolineas Argentinas to obtain prior authorization for all its flights to and from the United States.

As published by the specialized site Aviacionline, international flights authorized to date by ANAC include seven weekly flights to Miami by Aerolineas Argentinas (compared to six weekly flights in the previous months) and new from American Airlines (compared to eight weekly flights the previous month). The difference this month is more flights allowed for two other US airlines, United (13 flights from Houston) and Delta (eight flights from Atlanta).

In total, in June there are already available or in authorization status nearly 90 direct flights to the United States, or the equivalent of more than 27,000 seats, depending on the configuration of the various planes covering these journeys. If we add the flights of other regional airlines like Avianca, Copa and LATAM, the number of seats to the United States climbs well above 30,000 seats. As is already known, many passengers who depart from Ezeiza to this destination do so with the intention of getting vaccinated against Covid.

Argentina Airliness has been authorized to make five flights to Asunción (departing June 1, 3, 6, 10, 17 and 24), four to Bogotá (June 6, 13, 20 and 27), four to Lima (June 6.13, 20 and 27 ) and six in Santiago de Chile (June 2, 5, 9, 16, 23 and 30). The other regional flights of the airlines that have been authorized are to São Paulo (June 2, 6, 13, 20 and 27).

The ANAC also authorized Aerolineas ten flights to Madrid in June (departing on 2, 4, 6, 11, 16, 20, 25, 27 and 30) and to Miami (daily). However, other Aerolineas international destinations such as Aerolineas flights to Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Cancun, Punta Cana, Rio de Janeiro, Rome and New York remain suspended.
