The Irish island of Great Blasket, or An Blascaod Mór in Gaelic, is the main of the six that make up the Blaskets Islands, located off the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry.

Billy O’Connor and Alice Hayes, owners of three chalets and a cafeteria in this bucolic enclave, will open a selection process in the coming days to choose the two people who will become the guardians of the island.

Among their tasks, they have to prepare the cafeteria, take care of serving the tourists and registering and checking in the cabins, cleaning the settlements and leaving everything ready for the next day.

Last year the island received more than 40,000 applications for a similar position, so the competition is ready.

The island itself consists of 4.2 square kilometers, four cabins and a cafeteria (also owned by O’Connor and Hayes), it has mountainous surfaces with cliffs, white sand, long trails , incredible green landscapes, ruins of old houses and lots of wildlife.

The call is open until January 22 and is made via an online form: https://www.greatblasketisland.net/job/
