The prisoner is also accused of "participating" in the murder of lawyer Laura Casuso in the Paraguayan town of Pedro Juan Caballero, border with Brazil, last November.

Similarly, "Minotauro" is believed to be one of the "perpetrators" of the killing of a civilian police officer in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul in March this year.

According to the authorities, Paraguay 's border violence has increased after Arruda' s "takeover" as one of the leaders of the capital 's first commando.in its attempt to monopolize drug and arms trafficking in the region.

"The region has been the scene of several violent actions as a result of the confrontation of rival criminal organizations that aim to control drug trafficking and arms trafficking," said the federal police.
