The alleged murderer of a 21-year-old girl found dead in New York's Brooklyn neighborhood in 1992 was arrested after a DNA test made to some samples taken from the victim's mouth and that they had not been badyzed.
The DNA found in the body of Stacey Lynette Joyner coincided with that of suspect, Calvin Grant, neighbor of the victim. His DNA was archived in the state database due to a conviction for theft in the year 2000, according to Brooklyn prosecutor's office sources quoted by newspapers New York Post and The newspaper.
Grant, 52, would have been 25 years old when he allegedly committed the murder. The Office of the Prosecutor pointed out that nobody had badyzed the extracted DNA tests and then and this apparently it was the sperm of the suspect.
The victim was found on the roof of a Brooklyn building in 1992. A witness had seen Grant at the scene a few hours before Joyner's discovery, but nothing allowed him to badociate with the crime.
After the discovery, the subject was charged with killed in the second degree and if he is found guilty, he could be sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Attorney Eric González said that "the examination of the evidence in this case without solution and the new DNA tests have allowed to accuse this accused of a horrible crime and now we are waiting for him to answer. "
The prosecutor is leading an unresolved case unit "to ensure that all murder victims in Brooklyn get justice no matter how long it takes," he said. New York Post.
