They assure that American diplomats go by caravan to Caracas airport

A US official said some diplomats and their families would travel by caravan to the Caracas airport in the middle of a diplomatic confrontation with President Nicolás Maduro.

The agent spoke with The Associated Press under the guise of anonymity because he was not allowed to disclose the security measures. The letter written by a security officer at the US Embbady requesting a police escort of 10 vehicles had already been leaked on social networks.

On Wednesday, Maduro gave Washington diplomats 72 hours to leave the country and close the embbady. He announced that he was breaking off diplomatic relations with President Donald Trump's decision to recognize legislator Juan Guaidó as president in charge.

The Trump government has rejected these deadlines and says it will keep the embbady open. On Thursday, he announced that he was going to reduce his staff for security reasons.
