The doctors at a clinic became confused as patients and removed a healthy man from the large intestine. The error in November of last year was notified by the hospital administration to the Norwegian Health Council, the country where the incident occurred.
According to Bergens Tidende, a patient admitted with stomach pain and doctors thought that the fishbone was the cause of the pain. For this reason, they decided to examine the patient surgically. In front of the tail, there was a patient whose colon had to be removed.
Then there was confusion and both patients were changed. The person who needed to be examined for abdominal pain was placed under anesthesia and the surgeons started the operation and removed the colon.
