They capture Deiby Arias, Ocaña’s advisor accused of stripping and beating her ex-partner

Recently, the municipal councilor of Ocaña (Norte de Santander) for the La U party, Deiby Alberto Arias Quintero, was captured after the complaint filed by Johana Espejo, his former romantic partner for domestic violence. The woman said on May 19 that the lobbyist attacked her after returning from a meeting with friends.

After the forensic diagnosis, Johana Espejo was ordered to be disabled for more than 20 days due to injuries to the face and other parts of the body.

The crimes which will be imputed to him are aggravated violent sexual act and aggravated domestic violence. On the other hand, the woman had denounced that the authorities were not properly conducting the investigations into the case and She asked that she wanted it classified as attempted femicide.

On the day of the events, the city councilor wrote to him violently on WhatsApp, expressing his jealousy at having met another man at that meeting before the beating. Espejo asked Arias to attend the meeting he was at to verify the accusations were false. The man did not show up and was absent from the apartment the couple share, in the center of the town.

When her husband three years ago did not arrive, the woman got ready to sleep and, a few moments later, Party U counselor arrived at the residence in a state of excitement, accusing her of having shared intimacy with another man.

“He came in drunk yelling that I was with another man and that’s when he punched me in the face with the first fist. He also hit my legs and tried to suffocate me very hard several times ”, Espejo told local media. The woman told the Investigative Journalism Agency (API) that the man stripped her naked to sniff her when he arrived home and accused her of being with another man.

With screams, the neighbors realized that something was going on and alerted the police. “With a lot of anger he tried to hang me, in the middle of the fight I clawed him on the chest. When he released me, I managed to scream and ask for help ”, the victim expressed to El Tiempo.

Faced with the case, the man spoke through a press release. According to the document, circulated on the networks, he expressed that he will be “I am ready to do what is necessary for this to be resolved as well as possible, I will face and assume the consequences of my public exposure and my actions, I will give the necessary explanations before the competent authorities, whether it is about control bodies. or the attorney general’s office itself. when they ask me to do it ”, and, in the same letter, he requested respect for his privacy and that of those involved.

Her party, led by Dilian Francisca Toro, repudiated the gender-based violence in which the adviser was involved. On May 11, the community asked “That the Colombian authorities take action and go to the last consequences of the investigation he opened against the municipal councilor of Ocaña, Norte de Santander, Deiby Arias, after having beaten and suffocated his wife, according to what has been disclosed in the publications produced ”.

“For the U Party, the behavior of its representatives against feminicide, abuse against women or any other that threatens society and especially against gender has ZERO TOLERANCE” the party said in the letter posted on social media. In addition, the ethics committee will open an independent investigation to the advisor.
